About Cellect

Cellect LLC, established in February 2001, is a global leader in the development and manufacture of specialty polyolefin bun foams for use in a wide variety of industrial and consumer markets. These markets include medical and healthcare, gaskets and seals, automotive and transportation, building and construction, toys, and military and electronics packaging.

Prior to February 2001 the company was a joint venture between Sentinel Products Corp and Tenneco Packaging, and was known as Sentinel Polyolefins LLC. [Press Release - 12/14/98] The vision of Sentinel Polyolefins was to provide the broadest polyolefin foam product line in the world, backed by rapid commercialization of new patented and proprietary products. In the first two years the venture grew sales from $25 million in 1998, to $46 million in 2000. In addition, the company invested over $4 million for research and development in flexible elastomers, resulting in the world's first flexible polyolefin elastomeric foams. [Press Release - 6/9/99] Further, Sentinel Polyolefins simultaneously launched two new manufacturing facilities in the US and UK, doubling the size of the company. [Press Release - 9/20/99]

In 2000, Tenneco changed its name to Pactiv and changed its management. On January 31, 2001 an agreement was reached to restructure the joint venture. As part of the restructuring, Scott C. Smith, President and CEO of Sentinel, acquired the controlling interest of the joint venture from Pactiv. Pactiv purchased the commodity packaging foam business, which included the new manufacturing sites in Plymouth, England and Queensbury, New York. On February 1, 2001 under the ownership of Mr. Smith, Sentinel Polyolefins was renamed Cellect LLC. [Press Release - 2/5/01]

Cellect is recognized for its innovation and entrepreneurial culture. Responsible for the development of proprietary product formulations and production processes exclusive to crosslinked metallocene polyolefin foams, the company possesses the most advanced polyolefin foam technology in the world. Cellect owns 18 patents globally with more expected to issue over the next two years.

On December 31, 2001, in order to substantially enhance its liquidity and upgrade its manufacturing capabilities, Cellect sold its continuous foam sheet business and licensed certain foam technology assets, including 18 patents, to Rogers Corporation, Rogers, CT. [Press Release - 1/7/02] As Cellect is now solely focused on Microcell bun foam products, it is better positioned to execute its long-term strategy to aggressively expand its leading market share in bun foams and rapidly grow sales in the specialty foams market.

Today, Cellect employs more than 80 people and operates a manufacturing and distribution facility in New York State.
